Sketch Challenge: March

Hello everyone! Sharon here with this month’s sketch challenge!

If truth be known, I more often than not use a sketch in some way or another to start scrapping a page. Sometimes it is an actual sketch, sometimes it’s scraplifting someone else’s page, sometimes it’s scraplifting myself. Often I just use the photo positioning – that’s always something I struggle with a bit (maybe why most of my pages are single photo pages). From that point on I like to play around with elements until I have something that satisfies me.

I guess what I’m saying is – a sketch is just a place to start. It can take you anywhere OR you can replicate the design exactly.

Three of my fellow CT members volunteered to help out with layouts for the blog post, but before we get to their pages . . .

. . . here is the sketch for March:

Up first is Valerie. She replaced the two photo spaces with one large photo, and flipped the sketch to better suit the photo which documents a fun 18th Birthday gift!

Penny has created such a soft pretty page which is just right for this gorgoeus photo. I love the way she has switched out the tag for one of Katie’s lovely gratitude pocket cards. I like the way both Penny and Valerie used doilies for the circular elements in the sketch.

Linda has used the sketch to record a new hobby – wow! Zentagling – I’m in awe of the patience required!! I just love the large tag she has substituted in and the small photos of her work – so cool! And look – Linda’s used stitched circles for the circle elements of the sketch.

I stuck very much to the sketch design for my page that records the sheer delight that Claire gets out of writing greeting cards to her friends. I found this cool paper that looks like pen scribbles, so I ‘cut’ it into circles for my design base.

I hope the March sketch and our examples have inspired you to have a go this month. Katie has generously provided the Photo Frame, the tag and the ribbon as a FREEBIE which you can download and use if you choose to.

Our pages complete with full product links will be in the Sketch Challenge Gallery very shortly, and we hope you can join us there too.

Don’t forget that if you add your 100% KPD product page to the March Challenge Sign in Thread you can earn shopping rewards!

Happy scrapping everyone!
