September Sketch Challenge

Hello everyone! Sharon here with another sketch challenge for you đŸ™‚

I have always been partial to strong horizontal designs with repeated pocket cards and/or rectangles of paper with a photo or two. With lots of white space around to sooth my soul!!

Long ago (back in 2019) Katie introduced a new scrapbook bundle called Lemon Zest. To my delight, having a lemonade stand photo waiting to be scrapped, the bundle contained both rectangular journaling spots, tags and some fantastic jar and bottle labels – just the things for one of those horizontal designs. So this page was “born” and I really think it has stood the test of time quite well!

So I have based this month’s sketch on that layout:

I asked our creative team if anyone was interested in making a page based on the sketch, and as always. they did not disappoint!

First up is Valerie (nana_vg) with a page celebrating Summer blueberries! I love that she’s used a pocket card tucked into a negative sleeve as part of her ‘line-up’ and how the string ties all the elements of the design together!

She used:

Layer Works 985 (negative sleeve)
Layer Works 2365 (frames and staples)
ARToptions Mini Mix 31 (string bow)
Summer Porch Botanical Transfers 02
Summer Porch Ephemera
Summer Porch Ephemera Plus Pack
Summer Porch Journal Cards
Summer Porch Solids Paper Pack
Twisted Dots Brushes and Stamps 02

Next up we have Chrissy (kikimama) who also stuck quite closely to the design to make a page about a cool cat who finds the comfy spot! I love her use of ephemera and patterned paper.

She has used:

Bliss Dots and Stripes Paper Pack
Striped Mix: Plum Paper Pack
ARToptions Plum Grove Paper Pack
Black, White and Plum Kit
Plum Spice Mini Kit
Vintage Farmhouse Garden Element Pack
Finley Scrapbooking Kit
Big Tags: Girls 01
Hand Scripted Spoiled Kitty Stamp Pack
Page Starters Ephemera Plus Pack

Last of all we have a lovely layout by Stacia. I love how she’s replaced the paper strips with filmstrips and created two rows of photos to fit between them. And I think I’m in love with that background paper!!

She has used:

Thanks to all these talented ladies for their sample layouts this month! Katie has put together a lovely freebie for us with 4 different ephemera pieces to choose from as well as that cute metal heart charm. I hope you find something to spark an idea! Remember – you are welcome to take the sketch in any direction you please!!

I hope we get to see your layout in the Sketch Challenge Gallery soon – and don’t forget to add your 100% KPD product page to the September Challenge Participation Sign in Thread to earn store rewards at the end of September!
