Saturday Scraplift: Making a Note

In this digital age, I’m still a paper and pen or pencil kind of girl. Call me a dinosaur, but I still keep a paper calendar – lol. And office supplies addict that I am, I’ve always loved a good notebook. No doubt, that explains my obsession with Katie’s spiral-bound notebooks. I just can’t seem to get enough of them, and I’m drawn to pages that feature them. Merr (digigrandma) must be my sister from another mother because she’s using Katie’s Christmas spiral pages for her Days of December album and doing a beautiful job of it. Addie, Valerie, Brenda, and Shannon jumped at the chance to lift Merr’s page, and here’s how they were inspired.

Merr’s page:

Addie (AddieG) started with one of Katie’s Journal Keeper templates for her page that documents a fun lake trip with friends. I love the blues and greens that extend her watery theme, as well as the cute wooden aquatic creatures. Addie also did a great job including items that lend texture to her page, such as the roughed up background paper and the twine elements.

Valerie (nana_vg) used one of Katie’s new Christmas Spectacular spiral notebooks to tell the story of an outing to find the perfect Christmas tree. I adore that pinky-purple color she drew from her photos to pair with the green of the Christmas tree; it’s unexpected and absolutely perfect. I also see that color in the visual triangle that lends unity to her design.

Brenda’s (bbe) page is a shout-out to the most wonderful time of the year. I love how she has made the notebook element her own by using the rich colors of Katie’s new ARToptions Mini Mix 32. It really looks like something you might see lying open on Santa’s work bench at the North Pole, and her layering of elements along the left side of her design is brilliant.

Shannon (shannonr) documented her son’s graduation from pilot training class by blending two large photos on the tilted notebook – I do love a good tilt on a page! And the word art she chose could not be more appropriate. I know she’s super proud of her son’s accomplishment, as well she should be.

I think you’re going to love experimenting with the whole notebook concept – it’s so dang versatile! Remember to post your lift in the Saturday Scraplift Challenge Gallery as well as in the December Challenge Participation thread in the forum. Happy scrapping and Merry Christmas!
