Graphic Challenge: Vintage Sheet Music

Hi everyone! Amy L here welcoming you to the Image Challenge, formerly the Ad Challenge. We’ve decided to expand the challenge inspiration from ads to images in general, and for this month I’ve chosen a vintage sheet music cover.

The challenge is to find something in this image as a jumping off point to make a scrapbook page, and you can use one aspect about it or as many as you’d like! Here are some ideas of things to draw from this image:

  1. A bold title across the top.
  2. The color scheme.
  3. An oval frame.
  4. Flowers on either side of your image.
  5. Curvy lines in the background, maybe even enclosing text.
  6. A vintage theme.

I’m sure you can come up with more! I think you will be impressed with the vision of our talented Creative Team members who stepped up to play along!

Merr made a gorgeous vintage page which I keep coming back to look at over and over. The photo, the flowers, and the lines in the background are all so pretty. I also love the touches of lace she added to the border; just perfect.

Supplies Merr used: Challenge Freebies (see below), Fall Checks and Dots Paper Pack, Duncan Solids Paper Pack, Handdrawn Twists 01, Layer Works 2285, Layer Works 2224, Layer Works 2291.

Valerie’s page is absolute sweetness with the special photo, the pretty colors and layers, and those gorgeous stitched flowers. I want to try that! Her title work is stunning and the torn border with stitching is a great way to interpret the curved lines in the inspiration image.

Supplies Valerie used: Layer Works 2275 (several elements), Readymade Layers: Frame Clusters 10 (oval frame and puffy heart), Embroidering Accents 01, Patterning Palettes 02 Add-On Teal Paper Pack, Patterning Palettes 02 Scrapbook Kit (yellow label), Dreamy Paper Pack 01.

Lori Ann made a lovely page. I like how she placed the photo in the corner of the page and used the twine to lead the eye to it. The frame looks like an extension of the twine, so cool. The florals are beautiful too!

Supplies Lori Ann used: Anchors Away Solids Paper Pack,  Color Swatch Terracotta Scrapbook Bundle, Frame and Blend Page Titles 01, Ombre Essentials Paper Pack 01, Sherene Element Pack.

Kathy made this stunner highlighting the new baby in the family. Isn’t he just the sweetest thing you ever saw? I could go on and on about this page; I love it so much! The frame and blue flowers are gorgeous, and I love how she used a shadowed Ink Twist for her curve. But I think my favorite element is the texture she added to the white background elements. We may need a tutorial, Kathy!

Supplies Kathy used: Vintage Artistry Serenity Ephemera, Vintage Artistry Serenity Solids Papers, Vintage Artistry Serenity Chipboard, Stitching Holes: Hearts, Floral Fringe Frames – Altered, Keystrike Sentiments, Inked Twists 01.

Finally, I made a page to celebrate the fact that my sweet granddaughter is turning five this month. I enjoyed using an oval frame, flowers and messy stitching in the background.

Supplies I used: ARToptions Rouge Ephemera Plus Pack, Baby Blush Element Pack, Classic Cardstocks: Festive Brights, Classic Cardstock: Into The Night, Curated Studio Mix Scrapbooking Kit 03, Decorative Drawn Frames 01, Graphic Simplicity 01, Inked Banners 01, Josie Element Pack, Kaleidoscope Ephemera Plus Pack, Letter Box Brushes 03, Mary Jane Element Pack, Messy Stitched Borders: Black 03, Messy Stitched Borders: White 03, My Vintage Valentines Printable Paper Pack 01, Patterning Mini Mix 01, Vintage Artistry Blush Solids Paper Pack.

I hope you find something here to get your juices flowing! Katie has kindly provided a freebie which includes a two frames and a cut file here. Please post your pages in the Image Challenge Gallery as well as the February Challenge Participation thread. Enjoy your scrapping!
