Saturday Scraplift: Background Playground!

Hi everyone! It’s Amy L bringing you my first ever Saturday Scraplift challenge! I have a wonderful page for you this week that I think you will find very inspiring. Sharon is a master at design and originality, and I chose this page from her gallery:

There’s so much to love about this page: the torn frame, the split title, and that perfectly shadowed teddy bear! But what I’m focusing on is Sharon’s background. I’m the queen of boring backgrounds: slap up a solid white paper and call it done! But I love how on this page Sharon chose a neutral dotted paper that is interesting but not overwhelming. In addition, her brushwork sets off the photo and elements to perfection.

I have some lovely example pages made by our Creative Team! First is Valerie. Isn’t her photo adorable! Her subtle background leads your eye across the page. I love the use of the wire and the chicken accents!

Supplies Valerie used: Krafty Garden Chipboard Words, Krafty Garden Ephemera, Krafty Garden Essential Transfers 02, Krafty Garden Simple Essentials Paper Pack, Krafty Garden Solids Paper Pack, Fading Photo Masks 01, Farmhouse Garden Scrapbook Kit, Fine Line Twists Brushes and Stamps 04, Page Fades Clipping Masks 01, Wire Frame Grid Panels 01.

Next is Carol, who made a page that fills me with longing! The beach sounds pretty good right now. The brushes Carol used in her background are so cool, and I love the use of teal. The pretty color scheme, the 3D look of her elements and the inspiring sentiment made for a gorgeous combination.

Supplies Carol used: Palette Texture Paper 07, Layer Works 2486, Junk Journal Printable Collage Sheets 05, Title Lines No 28, Lila Bleu Collection.

Up next is Erin with this precious lift! Is there a better color for a snow page than pink? The white paper Erin used has the perfect texture for this theme, and those pink snowflakes are to die for. I also love how Erin added the horizontal line in the inspiration page. Perfection!

Supplies Erin used:
Hanging Photo Frames 02, Messy Stamped Flakes Brushes and Stamps, Monthly Memories Element Pack 08, Polar Mountain Element Pack, Polar Mountain Glitter Flakes, Textured Whites Paper Pack 01, Readymade Layers: Winter Borders 07.

Finally, I was inspired by Sharon’s design and black and white photo. I chose one of Katie’s new chippy papers for my background, so the texture came baked in! I added a solid white color layer blended on soft light to my background to lighten it some. I loved how Sharon’s title spanned both sides of the photo and did the same with mine.

Supplies I used: Brotherly Love 01, Chippy Journal Papers 01, Color Swatch Eucalyptus Collage Sheets, Color Swatch Eucalyptus Ephemera, Color Swatch Eucalyptus Transfers 06, Curated Studio Mix Scrapbooking Kit 03, Fastened Frames 07, Holiday Wishes Filmstrip Pack, Life Lines Element Pack.

I hope you have a vision to make your own creation! Please post your pages in the Saturday Scraplift gallery. And add them to the January Challenge Participation thread. Enjoy your scrapping!
