October Sketch challenge

Good morning everyone! Sharon here, with a new sketch challenge for you.
There are a few different options to this sketch and I hope you’ll be inspired to have a play this month.
This month we are again lining up three photo spaces horizontally on the page, but this time we are using rounded corner masks. There are a few versions of these in the store with either messy or clean stitching surrounds:
Katie has kindly included one of the masks in this month’s Sketch Challenge FREEBIE
You might choose to ‘spread’ one photo over your three masks as I’ve done here:
I used:
Clean Stitched Rounded Corners: White 01
Anchors Away Solids Paper Pack
Classic Embossed Cardstock: Dots 04
Scripted Remarks Brushes & Stamps 03
To do this, line up your three masks across your page. I select all three layers together and then resize them all as one to get them looking the way I want. Make sure the mask on which you’re going to place the ‘curve’ is on the top.
On a new layer, using the shape tool create a circle whose diameter is just a little short of the height of the masks. Centre it over the edge of the mask on the left and clip it to the mask. I add a tiny drop shadow (10px size, 10px distance, 50% opacity). Don’t merge your layers at this stage – this allows you to place a paper between the semi circle and the mask and clip the paper to the mask.
Place your photo on a new layer and place it so it covers your right hand and middle masks and your left hand semicircle mask.
Duplicate it twice (or triplicate it??!!), being careful not to nudge any of the copies out of position.
Then it is just a matter of moving 2 of your photo layers down the layers panel until one is on top of each mask. Clip photos to the masks.
Last of all clip the photo which is still at the top of your layers panel to the semi circle. Clip a paper to the rectangular mask underneath if you haven’t yet done so, and then you can merge all your layers together and a apply a drop shadow to all at once.
OR you could use the left hand mask to feature a pocket card/paper/image that suits your theme – or line up three photos instead!
I used:
Clean Stitched Rounded Corners: White 01
Adventuring Travel Scrapbook Embellishment Pack
Lightly Ledger: Sunshine Solids Paper Pack
Winter Whites Dots & Stripes Paper Pack
Our talented CT member Valerie (nana_vg) interpreted the sketch in yet another way, using a circular frame tucked under a multi-opening frame to document how she’s coping with missing this young lady!
Val used:
Layer Works 2189 (some elements)
Color Swatch Inkwell Filmstrips and Frames
Typed and Scripted Stamp Pack 21
Color Swatch Combo Ocean Breeze Scrapbooking Kit (heart button)
And the amazing Mel flipped the sketch to create a signature ‘britgirl’ layout where Juno’s face appears in the semi-circle portion of the photo. Notice that she has made the design work for just two photos.
Mel used:
Vintage artistry nature study transfers mushrooms
Vintage artistry nature study Text
Vintage artistry nature study Colorwash transfers
Vintage artistry nature study foliage transfers 2
Vintage artistry nature study chip bits
Vintage artistry nature study ephemera essentials
Vintage artistry butter ephemera
Curators botanical ephemera plus
as well as the Adventuring plastics green heart and the Clean stitched corners white masks from the Sketch Challenge FREEBIE.
I hope we’ve inspired you and that we get to see your layout in the Sketch Challenge Gallery soon – and don’t forget to add your 100% KPD product page to the October Challenge Participation Thread to earn store rewards at the end of October!
Happy Scrapping!
