Let’s Blend Challenge – Filmed Overlays

Hello everyone, Joanne here with this month’s Let’s Blend Challenge. While looking for elements to use in the Curated Team Favorites Photography Kit, I searched the KPD store and found some elements I forgot about. One of them was the Filmed Overlays. They can be used just the way they are, recolored, add a blend mode or texture.

This photo of the “Blue Mesa” in the Petrified Forest needed some punch. After clipping it to the mask, I resized the Filmed Overlay, recolored it and changed the blend mode to multiply. Elements were added, and and background paper and that’s it! Credits for this page can be found in my Gallery.

For this photo, I began with one of Kaylie’s Layer Works templates. I merged the background layers, clipped them to a mask and then added my photo. The Filmed Overlay was once again recolored, and changed to overlay blend mode. Look for the credits for this page in my Gallery.

So, that’s all there is to it! Play around with recoloring and blend modes and see how it changes your photo. Katie has once again generously provided a freebie to get you started. I hope you will join in on the challenge this month. Don’t forget to post your layouts in the Let’s Blend Challenge Gallery, as well as the July Challenge Participation Thread, to earn store rewards.

I look forward to seeing your work in the Gallery.

Joanne
