Let’s Blend Challenge

Hello Everyone and welcome to the September Let’s Blend Challenge. My creativity has been lacking lately, so I thought we would just do something simple, but with punch. We are going to work with one big image and Katie’s Painted Window Frame Layers. I created two pages with the same mask, except one shows the “window frame” and one does not. So here’s how I did it:

This is an image I took of the elk herd in a beautiful meadow. I enlarged the mask to fit the page, and clipped it to the PNG form of the mask. Background paper was added as well as an element. I wanted to focus to be on the photo.

For the other page, I used the layered portion of the mask and before clipping the image to it, I “nudged” each layer so they butted up against each other. The layers were then merged and it created one solid mask. The same background paper was used and I also added a defining grunge blend for a touch of word art.

Try this technique and see which one you like better. Katie has generously provided a freebie for us, that you can use if you would like. Don’t forget to post your layouts in the Let’s Blend Challenge Gallery, as well as the September Challenge Participation Thread, to earn store rewards.

I look forward to seeing your beautiful creations in the Gallery!
