Graphic Challenge March 2025: Use a Map!

Hi everyone! Amy L here welcoming you to the Graphic Challenge, where we use a graphic as inspiration for a scrapbook page. This month our inspiration is maps!

I love using maps on a scrapbook page, and the Katie Pertiet Designs store is brimming over with them! There are map papers, blendables, stamps, overlays, remnants and many more. For this challenge, all you have to do is use a map on your page. You can use one from the store or come up with one of your own. Katie has provided a freebie pack here with some products you can try.

Maps are great for travel pages, but they have lots of other uses too. They make wonderful backgrounds, giving your page a timeless feel. They can signify connections from one place to another, even symbolizing a spiritual or emotional journey. They can portray a cultural identity or show places you’d like to go.

The Creative Team was quick to respond with these examples which I found very inspiring.

First, Cori scrapped photos of a trip her son took to Denmark. How fun is that! The maps make a wonderful background and the cluster in the left bottom corner is wonderful with a railroad crossing sign and a map flair! I also love the hinged frames Cori used.

Supplies Cori used: Vintage Artistry Wherever Scrapbook Bundle, Vintage Artistry Wherever Paper Pack 03, Vintage Artistry Wherever Wishing Bubbles, Vintage Artistry Wherever Ride Transfers 01, Challenge Freebie.

Next, Sharon scrapped a cool photo of some native grass plants. Her background is a scanned map of her locale which is such a creative idea. I always enjoy seeing pretty plants that are new to me. I love the beautiful notebook element she added with the image of the plant, so awesome! Her use of the mapped frames is lovely too!

Supplies Sharon used: Curated Botanical Ephemera, Weathered Garden Element Mix, ARToptions Mini Mix 26, ARToptions Mini Mix 30, Vintage Artistry Everywhere Geomarker Frames, Vintage Mini Mix 18,

Next, Penny scrapped a breathtaking image taken by her daughter while on a trip to Colombia. The color of the water is amazing! Penny embellished the photo so wonderfully with the mapped frame and the wonderful travel elements alongside it. Also, blending the photo into the background gives the page such an ethereal look. Just gorgeous!

Supplies Penny used: Challenge Freebies, Vintage Artistry Wherever Map Frames, Vintage Artistry Wherever Cluster Layers, Vintage Artistry Wherever Scrapbook Bundle.

I’ve been wanting to scrap my love of British mystery series for some time, and this challenge was the jumpstart I needed. The map overlay gave me all the points I needed to locate the settings of all the stories. I would love to see them all one day!
