Get Inspired: Hinged

Good morning everyone,
Our poor old world seems a little unhinged at the moment doesn’t it? How lucky are we to have a wonderful hobby we can practise at home and a store at which we can shop anytime and still maintain our social distancing requirements. Go Designer Digitals – helping to flatten the curve!!
Way way back, in 2009, Katie introduced a wonderful pack of Hinges which has certainly stood the test of time.

Hinges are really great for holding down photos, sheets of paper and journaling spots. So many people have used these gorgeous hinges over the years, and of course, Katie has also released some amazing ‘ready-hinged’ photo frames as well – doing a search for ‘hinged frames’ shows you some lovely goodies!
When you use a hinge from the original hinge pack though, you are able to tuck all manner of things under the hinge to add to the interest of your page. Here are some things I’ve tucked under a hinge or two in the past:

-ribbon

-flowers

– tags, just to name a few

But today, I’d really like to get you thinking about different ways we could use these hinges other than -well- as hinges!

In my first example today, I’ve used the pointy hinge from the pack in place of groups of arrows or chevrons on my layout. I’m still not certain I haven’t overdone it using a third group, but I do like the effect.

In my next layout, I’ve used the small hanging piece to emphasize the paper strip that provides a title for my page. I thought that this idea could also work with elastic photo wraps too.

And for my last example, I’ve used a pair of fancy hinges as part of a small symmetrical element cluster.

I’m sure there must be other imaginative ways to use these cute elements and I’m hoping that you will be able to inspire me with your use of hinges.

I’ll be adding my extra layouts, with complete product lists, to the Scrapbook Challenge Gallery and I hope to see your layout there too!
