Color Challenge: Rich Fall Vibes

Hi, and welcome to September’s Color Challenge. With the warm days becoming less frequent I’m looking forward to the cosy days of autumn/ fall. I love the colours, the crunchy leaves and the warmer clothes. One of the signs here of the new season is the conkers falling from the horse chestnut trees. My children always loved looking for shiny examples of these, and kept them on their windowsills as they’re said to deter spiders.

I asked the creative team to come up with inspiration for this palette and I love the directions they chose.

First up is Addie with this cute page. Very Mary Poppins! I love the series of photos, and that background paper is fabulous for allowing the photos to shine. I’m always a fan of foliage on a page, adds so much depth and texture. I can’t imagine how it feels to have a bird venture onto your hand to take some seed – and wait for a photo!

Next up is Jheri, I love the circle frames, perfect for showcasing this sweet memory. Look at all those leaves! I love that she’s included several elements with autumn colours and foliage to bring the photo out into the whole page. The rectangle frames under the circle ones add so much depth.

For my page I looked back through previous years of collecting fall leaves and conkers and found these photos from a day in the grounds of Glasgow University. I wanted to use several photos, and the circle of twigs was ideal for the photo of my boy’s favourite find of the day. I always feel fall colours work together so well, since they’re inspired by nature.
