Challenge of the Month: On Repeat

Hey all! Sarah (@sterkeurs) here, guest-hosting the April Challenge of the Month!

You know that feeling when a song comes on and you just have to hit play again? Or when you find yourself reaching for the same cozy mug every single morning? There’s something deeply satisfying about repetition — it’s comforting, it’s rhythmic, and it turns out, it makes for absolutely stunning scrapbook pages.

This month, we’re leaning all the way into it with our “On Repeat” challenge!

The concept is simple: your page should feature some form of repetition. But what does that look like in a scrapbook layout? You might line up a row of identical frames across your page — the same shape, the same size, a little rhythm you can almost feel. You might stack or scatter the same patterned paper in multiple spots, letting it echo through the design. Maybe you’ll repeat an element — a cluster of flowers, a strip of stitching, a single stamp — placed again and again to create visual movement. Or perhaps you’ll let a repeating background pattern do all the heavy lifting. Stripes, polka dots, grids, florals — patterns are repetition at its finest!

The beauty of this challenge is that there’s no wrong way to interpret it. Whether your repetition is bold and obvious or subtle and understated, what matters is that it’s intentional. You chose to bring something back — and in doing so, you created a page with flow, cohesion, and that satisfying sense of things belonging together.

Here are a few ideas to get you thinking:

Repeat a frame — use the same frame style two, three, or even four times across your layout

Repeat a paper — clip the same patterned paper in multiple spots or use it as both background and accent

Repeat an element — a button, a flower, a word strip — placed in a pattern or scattered with intention

Repeat a color — let one hue appear again and again, pulling the whole page together

Repeat a photo — the same image (or variations of the same moment) featured more than once

Our creative team has been busy making some truly gorgeous pages to inspire you, and we cannot wait to share them. Stay tuned — they are going to show you just how many ways “On Repeat” can sing! Mel (@britgirl) created this page that showcases her fabulous pup. Three frames, one very curious dog — and that tells the whole story!

Here are the products that Mel used: Dreamy no 8 Vintage Farm Garden Chipboard Collageable no 4 Indigo Garden Sticker Sheet 2 Krafty Garden Wishing Bubbles Curated Team Rain or Shine Kit Field Guide Remnants 2 Vin Frames 52 Docustack Layers no 2.

Valerie’s (@nana_vg) “Winter Wonderland” takes repetition and runs with it — literally! The phrase “winter wonderland” loops continuously along three borders of the page, and the zig-zag stitching echoes it on two sides. Fabulous photos of her granddaughter and friends at Lake Tahoe.

Talk about a creative interpretation of the theme! Jocelyn repeated the photo itself — layering and blending multiple versions of the same precious little face across the page in a stunning, painterly art piece created by Kathy (@blackkathy).

Angela (@acmcmillan) used a trio of overlapping diamond frames to frame her gorgeous spring blossom photos, and the effect is nothing short of stunning.

And for my page: my brother in law recently had a very serious health scare and we were finally able to go to see him on our way to pick up my son from university. It was a great few days of visiting with family.  I choose the bold chevron arrows that march across the page in rows.

When you’re ready to join in, post your finished layout in the Challenge of the Month Gallery and don’t forget — if you’ve used all KPD products on your page, add a link to your layout in the April Challenge Participation thread in the forum so it counts toward your rewards.

We love seeing what this community creates, and we have a feeling this challenge is going to fill the gallery with pages that are worth repeating. 😊

Happy scrapping!
