Graphic Challenge April 2025: Flowers and Birdhouse!

Hi everyone! Amy L here welcoming you to the Graphic Challenge, where we use a graphic as inspiration for a scrapbook page. For this month’s challenge, I found a pretty spring image that made me happy: a wooden birdhouse surrounded by beautiful roses and a curious bird!

I love the use of the birdhouse to frame the scene, and those vintage roses make me swoon! I also love the cool shadows in the image. Katie Pertiet Designs has many beautiful florals and birds, and Katie has generously provided a freebie for us here:

The Creative Team made some lovely pages using this image as inspiration.

First up is Mel. How sweet is this photo of these three loved ones! Mel’s florals blew me away and I’m crazy about the pretty color scheme she used. Mel used the freebie frame and added a top to it! Beautiful page!

Supplies Mel used: Colorful Paint Layers 02, Artsy Blend Layers Botanicals 08, Love Letters Scrapbooking Bundle, My Vintage Valentine 02, Sweet Rose Bay Add-On Paper Pack, Cherished Artistry Paper Pack 02, Readymade Layers Bird Clusters 02, Curated Team Favorites Vintage Scrapbook Kit.

You can make a house out of a frame in Photoshop. Place the frame on your canvas, then duplicate it. Click on the original frame and turn it about 45 degrees so the corner is straight up. Mask off or erase the bottom of the turned frame and you have a roof! Resize and reposition the roof to taste!

Next, Jane made a beautiful outdoorsy page with the such lovely botanicals! Can you believe she captured this shot? I love the wood background and that wonderful twig where the bird is perched!

Supplies Jane used: Tidewater Solids Paper Pack, Splatters Brushes and Stamps 07, Taped Together Overlays 03, Colorful Paint Layers 02Vintage Artistry Everyday Ephemera, Vintage Artistry Coral Ephemera, Watery Foliage 23, Color Swatch Eucalyptus Filmstrips and Frames, Walden Element Pack, Blendable Layers 68, Simple Mini Mix 02, Catana Kit, Meriam Ridge Element Pack.

Next up, Penny created this fabulous colorful layout to showcase her great tulip photo. The background is lovely and the birds and flowers lift my spirits!

Supplies Penny used: Challenge Freebie, Kaleidoscope Wildflower Ephemera, Smooches for You Brushes and Stamps 01, Kaleidoscope Paper Pack 02.

Shannon created a lovely page about having tea with friends. The colors are dreamy and the page is chock full of spring delights. I love the birdhouse she used!

Finally, I was excited to use this inspiration for one of my favorite photos so far this spring: my grandkids relaxing on the front porch swing. I used a frame hanger to mimic the roof of the birdhouse in the image.

Supplies I used: Challenge Freebies, ARToptions Mini Mix 27, Chicken Wire 01, Chunky Sentiments 05, Curators Botanical Add-On Paper Pack, Enchanted Easter Solids Paper Pack, Frame Hangers 01, Krafty Garden Chipboard Words, Ledger Grids Stamp Pack 06, Simply Painted Botanicals 01, Stamped Blocks 17, Summer Porch Ephemera.
