April Template Mashup: Get Outdoors

It’s time for the first Template Mashup for April! My name is Merrilee (aka digigrandma) and I want to invite you to join me in Mashing! I think we all agree it is important to get outdoors and enjoy the benefits of being out in nature every chance we get. Getting outdoors gives me a reason to take new photos to scrap, too. With that in mind, I chose two templates that I think are perfect for your outdoor photos.

The rules for this Challenge are to combine parts of both of the templates to create a fresh new design. Usually, you’ll need to add a background paper to your design and if you wish to add a few other elements from you stash, that’s OK. As with all the other challenges, please post your completed page in the KPD Gallery and in the April Challenge Participation Thread. Remember, the featured templates are always on sale the week of this challenge, giving you a great opportunity to add them to your digital stash to use again and again!

Wrapped Up Pages Layered Template 07

Layer Works 1943

I’ve gathered some examples created by the Creative Team to jumpstart your own creativity.

The first example is by Penny (aka pennyh). Her page features spectacular waterfall photos. We all liked the filmstrip and used it in our layers as Penny did here. I love the bugs and the white doily and the way she tucked in a little journal text under her design. Penny’s background paper is from Canvas Color Mix Paper Pack 18 and the tiny alphas in her title are from Curated Team Favorites Garden Kit.

Valerie (aka nana-vg) is a real pro at mashing templates.  When spring time finally arrives kids love to get outdoors again riding their bikes. Oh, the freedom it gives them and as Valerie explains it is a special moment when those training wheels come off.  To achieve the double matting effect Valerie used papers from Palette Textures Paper Pack 01 and Textured Cardstocks Paper Pack 01.

Wendy (aka wendymck)‘s daughter attends college in Oregon so she was able to spend spring break in Vancouver. Wendy’s page features the spectacular photos her daughter sent her from one her hikes. The absolutely perfect background Wendy created for these photos was created with brush work and paint from the templates and Naturally Krafty Paper Pack 08.

For my own page, I couldn’t resist using the green wrap to tie my page together. Even my grand-dog is happiest when warmer weather arrives! I used Kaleidoscope Solid Papers as my background paper.

There you go! It’s your turn now! Can’t wait to see what gets created when you mash these templates.

Happy Mashing!
