Sketch Challenge: January

Happy Wednesday everyone!
It’s Sharon here with an exciting new challenge for your scrapping pleasure!
When I was a paper scrapper, I just LOVED a good sketch to get me started – and it seems I’m not alone. So, each month in 2024, we will feature a layout sketch on which you can base a scrapbook page. The sketch will include two items from the store which Katie will offer as a Sketch Freebie for the month. You are welcome to download and use these items in the creation of your page, but it is certainly not mandatory!
S0 . . . drumroll please . . . for our first sketch:
You can, of course, interpret the sketch in any way. You may use it almost as a template – or just as general inspiration for your page. You can switch photos out for paper or pocket cards. You can move items to accommodate your photos. You can swap paper pieces for frames or paint or gesso. You can quite literally do anything you choose.
The CT team were keen to have a go at this sketch. I’ve included some of their pages here for your inspiration, others you can view as they are posted in our new Sketch Gallery. Of course we will post with full product credits in case you are chasing down something we have used.
First up is Julie (MaggieMae), who has scrapped some Ai pics of her lovely Molly. Julie has stuck pretty closely to the sketch, adding a journaling block to the left and some movement with a twist. I love the way she has filled the wood veneer frame with a doily!
Amy (Amy L), has also scrapped some canine friends. You will notice that she has created a more centered design based on the sketch and has used a large paper swirl as her circular element. She’s also swapped out the two photos for one larger one. Love that little doggie charm!
Addie (AddieG), chose to scrap the little birdie I sent her for Christmas! She has used the freebie, but has also swapped out the two smaller photos for a larger one. I love the greenery tucked behind her photo as well as the way her page border matches the banner.
I used the freebie in my first example page but only one photo and moved my title to a pocket card tucked in behind. I replaced the button elements with tiny gingerbread men to match Tully”s PJs.
My final example is the first page for my 2024 album. I flipped the sketch as I need it to be on a right facing page. I replaced the largest paper block with an empty frame and the second photo with a date card. I used the glitter burst as my circular element and the lace instead of a banner.
I would love to see your pages based on our first sketch for the year. Please post them in our new Sketch Gallery and don’t forget that if you make your page with 100% KPD product you can earn shopping rewards with our BRAND NEW challenge rewards programme.
Keep track of the challenge pages you complete in the January Challenges Participation Sign-in Thread in the forums.
Oh! And I nearly forgot – here is the FREEBIE
I’m loving all the new challenges for 2024 – hope you are too!
Happy scrapping!
