2nd FEBRUARY TEMPLATE MASHUP: LET’S TRAVEL!

Hello all! It’s Barbara (grantlaurensmom) here with February’s second Template Mashup (and my very first time hosting a challenge!). I’m a big travel buff, so I decided to go with two travel-themed templates. There are so many amazing travel-themed templates in the shop; it took me some time to narrow it down to these two templates! 😉

If this is your first time joining us on a template challenge, the rules are super simple… take parts from each of the two chosen templates (whatever parts inspire you!) and use them to create a page of your own. It is completely OK to add a couple of additional KPD elements or papers if you’d like, but please keep it to just KPD designs. When you’re done with your page, post it in the Template Mashup Challenge Gallery and also in the February Participation Thread in the forum to earn points towards a store discount for completing challenges.

I hope these templates inspire you to document a place you’ve traveled to, near or far, home or abroad, that will help you remember a fond memory!

Several members of our team were inspired to pay along with this challenge and created some lovely pages to share with you. Let’s take a look, shall we?!

First up is a winter-themed page created by Stacia:

I love the snowflakes in the background paper she used, the beautiful scenic pics, and the pops of red in the ski jacket and that adorable cardinal. I’m not a winter gal, but I’ve got to tell you, those beautiful winter scenes make me want to be there! In addition to the two tempates, following are the supplies Stacia used to create her page: December Sparkles Paper Pack, Far and Wide Element Pack, and Astro Scrapbooking Kit.

Next up is a page by Sarah (sterkeurs):

I like the way Sarah spread her photos across the center of her page, the way she prominently used the colorful stamp of the world behind her title, and the way she chose to pop her elements around the page. I can think of some photos right now that I’ve got in my “waiting to be scrapped” pile that would practically pop right into her page! Along with the two templates, Sarah used the super versatile Abisko Solids Paper Pack to create this page.

The next page that I’d like to share with you was scrapped by Carol (oldbag165), a talented member of our guest creative team:

Carol created her page with these phenomenal photos of elk. I love the way she extracted the antlers in two of the photos; it adds so much depth to her page. And look at her title work… I’m impressed by how perfectly she wrapped the tied string so artfully around the letters E and L in the title. Her page is perfection! In addition to the two templates, Carol used: Chippy Traveler Paper Pack 01, Canvas Cardstocks Paper Pack 10.

Another page I want to share with you was scrapped by Cori (CoriK):

Cori created a beautiful page with stunning scenic photos from a trip to Maine and included a great family photo to boot. She used a lovely neutral background paper from Color Swatch Combo Ocean Breeze Solids paper pack, moved some frames around a bit, played with the elements, put that great journal card into a frame, and voilà, another memory scrapped!

And finally… I (grantlaurensmom), too, of course, couldn’t wait to play with these templates:

I loved the photo placement on the left, pulled some elements from one template to another, and overlaid the quote from the journal card on top of a photo. Since my photos were from a recent trip to Arizona, I wanted the papers I used to have a Southwestern feel and felt the colors and patterns in the Arlesey papers worked perfectly. Easy peasy! In addition to the templates, here’s what I used to create my page: Arlesey Paper Pack, Arlesey Solids Paper Pack, and Far and Wide Sentiments Brushes and Stamps.

I hope these pages have inspired you! I want to thank my team members Stacia, Sarah, Carol, and Cori for providing me with their gorgeous example pages. Please join in on the challenge by creating your own page, using parts of both of the featured templates, and post your pages in the Template Mashup Challenge Gallery and the February Challenge Thread in the forum. And don’t forget… the templates used for this challenge will be on sale this week!

Thanks for looking and playing along, and I can’t wait to see your pages in the gallery!

Happy Scrapping!

Barbara
